Today, that vision of freedom and community is led by our amazing manager, Stefani. Like many of our guests, she first arrived at Hostal Bambú as a volunteer, driven by her passion for travel and local culture. After traveling the world for a long time, Stefani felt the same magic we did years ago: she knew this was her place.
At Hostal Bambú, you’re not a booking number; you’re part of our community. We know you’re looking for coffee that tastes like heaven, a hot shower that brings you back to life and a real single bed where you can actually rest. We’ve poured all our experience into Calle de la Locería so your only worry is enjoying the adventure.
Hostal Bambú was born from a chance encounter. We were three travelers who, after exploring more than 30 countries, crossed paths by chance on the road to the mountains of Huila. Back then we were just strangers swapping backpacking stories, with no intention whatsoever of building a hostel. But when we arrived in San Agustín, something changed. The mystical energy of these mountains and the instant human connection between us were stronger than any itinerary. What was meant to be a stop of a few days turned into love at first sight. Since 2010, on the most iconic street in San Agustín, we have opened the doors of Bambú. We built it to be the refuge we always searched for around the world: a place where restless souls can finally drop their backpack and feel, at last, at home.
